What is the B2B MX Service?

The V@csin MX Service is a service that filters your e-mail for spam and viruses.
This service can easily be implemented in an existing infrastructure.
Because the service is based on the use of standard MX records in the DNS, it is possible to have your e-mail delivered to any host on the internet. Our service uses this MX record to apply MX filtering to all the e–mail in your domain.
When you subscribe to the MX service, you need to specify your receiving mail server. You can use your current MX host(s) for this, because we deliver the e-mail directly to the server specified by you (depending on the protocol you have chosen).

What is MX Routing?

MX Routing is used to tell SMTP servers where they can deliver the e-mail for a particular domain.
The illustration alongside shows what your current MX route could look like.
The MX records are probably mentioned in the DNS tables for your domain. These MX records point to your "receiving SMTP servers".
The current Vacsin MX route is the following:
vacsin.com mail exchanger = 50 mx1.vacsin.com
vacsin.com mail exchanger = 50 mx2.vacsin.com
There are therefore 2 mail Exchangers available for the vacsin.com domain.
MX records will also have been defined in your domain configuration.

After implementation?

When you subscribe to the V@csin MX Service, you need to alter your MX route. A brief description in the submenu of the subscription site tells you how to act and what information you need to register correctly.
After this adjustment, your mail will be delivered to mx1.vacsin.com or mx2.vacsin.com. These servers deliver the mail to the filter and the scanners. If these filters and scanners find nothing, the e-mail is transferred to your own mail server.

Consequently, infected e-mail will not reach your network. There is no possibility of infection via e-mail, even if someone makes a mistake…….

The Infrastructure

V@csin uses a cluster environment to deal with your e-mail.From the internet, you will only see the front-end machines (load balancing).

There is a complex cluster environment behind these front-end machines, which has the capacity to handle many terabytes a day.

All servers are provided with a Unix variant as their operating system and use RAID for storage; this offers a more flexible and stable environment than you could buy for your own environment with your subscription fee.

Optionals

Virus Samples

V@csin aims to offer the best possible support for the development of anti-virus scanners.
Whenever a suspect e-mail is intercepted, it will be checked by one of our engineers. After having asked your permission, the suspect code is sent to the various anti-virus laboratories with the request to check the code and to identify it, if necessary.
This interaction between V@csin and the anti-virus producers safeguards the quality of the product.
